THE DEMOGRAPHIC CONSEQUENCES OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC IN GEORGIA

Summary 

In this article, we analyze the consequences derived from the changes in demographic behavior under conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic during 2019-2020 in Georgia. According to these results, the regress of demographic development is noted. Studying the societal loss caused by the pandemic in depth and coming up with preventative measures are something that take place on the agenda. The urgency of the issue is strengthened not only by manifestation of the peculiarities of the pandemic, but also analysis of the possible scenarios and trends of the post-pandemic period in regional terms.

In this regard, we have presented the demographic-statistical analysis of corona demography, which is one of the fields of pandemology in the direction of the demography of pandemics, during the short period of the pandemic, according to separate demographic processes. The research reveals that if the state does not implement an active demographic policy, the demographic collapse, which came into existence against the background of demographic crisis before the pandemic, will further aggravate depopulation in the post-pandemic period.
